When I Lose Myself, I Find Myself
P.E.A.C.E.
Presence — The Gateway
There are moments when losing yourself is exactly how you find yourself.
Not because you have abandoned who you are.
But because you have stepped outside of everything you already know.
You enter a new environment.
A new atmosphere.
A new language.
A new way of communicating.
And suddenly, the rules you understood no longer seem to apply.
You don’t know exactly what to do.
You don’t know what comes next.
You don’t have all the answers.
And there you are.
Present.
This is where growth begins.
Not in certainty.
Not in comfort.
Not in having everything figured out.
But in our willingness to stay present when we don’t.
Presence Is the Gateway
Presence is the first step on the Path to P.E.A.C.E.
Because before we can develop emotional intelligence, we have to be present enough to notice what we are feeling.
Before we can become aware, we have to actually be here.
Before we can find clarity, we have to stop running long enough to listen.
Before we can embody anything, we have to be willing to experience it in our bodies.
Presence is where it all begins.
Presence is being available to your own life.
And that sounds simple.
But it isn’t always easy.
Being present means being willing to meet what is actually happening instead of immediately retreating into what happened before or projecting ourselves into what might happen next.
It means coming home from the past.
Releasing our grip on the future.
And meeting ourselves here.
Now.
The EXPERIENCE
This is part of why I created The EXPERIENCE through Groovy Willow Green.
Because presence isn’t something I want to simply talk about.
It is something I want people to experience.
The EXPERIENCE is an opportunity to step out of the familiar patterns, environments, and ways of relating that keep us moving through life on autopilot—and into a space where we can slow down enough to actually notice ourselves.
To breathe.
To listen.
To feel.
To explore.
To practice.
To become curious about what happens when we stop leaving ourselves.
The EXPERIENCE creates space to cultivate presence in real time.
Not as an idea.
Not as something we understand intellectually.
But as something we practice with our bodies, our breath, our emotions, our awareness, our relationships, and the world around us.
Because peaceful living isn’t something we arrive at once everything around us becomes peaceful.
It is something we cultivate within ourselves.
And cultivation requires practice.
The EXPERIENCE is a place to practice being present—and to begin building the foundation for peaceful living.
The Discomfort of Being Present
I have learned that some of the greatest growth in my life has happened when I deliberately put myself into situations where I don’t know the language yet.
Where I don’t know the environment.
Where I don’t understand the communication system.
Where I have to explore.
Where I have to listen.
Where I have to become a beginner again.
There is discomfort in that.
And I have learned not to run from it.
Because discomfort isn’t always a sign that something is wrong.
Sometimes discomfort is simply the sensation of becoming familiar with something that is new.
Sometimes the version of you that knew how to navigate the old environment has to loosen its grip so you can discover how to navigate the new one.
That is growth.
We don’t grow because we are comfortable.
We grow because we become willing to remain present while we are uncomfortable.
Presence Creates Choice
When I am not present, I am much more likely to react from what I already know.
Old patterns.
Old protections.
Old stories.
Old expectations.
But when I become present, there is space.
A breath.
A pause.
A moment where I can actually notice what is happening.
And in that space, I have choice.
I can listen before I respond.
I can feel before I act.
I can breathe before I react.
I can notice what is mine and what isn’t.
I can choose what happens next instead of allowing an old pattern to choose for me.
That is power.
Presence is power because presence gives us access to ourselves.
Presence Is Where Peace Begins
Peace isn’t the absence of discomfort.
Peace isn’t controlling everything around me so nothing unexpected happens.
Peace isn’t waiting until life becomes exactly the way I want it to be.
Peace begins when I can remain connected to myself while life is happening.
When I can breathe inside the unknown.
When I can stay with myself through the discomfort.
When I can meet the moment instead of fighting the moment.
That is the beginning of embodied peace.
And this is why I teach presence.
Because I don’t want to teach people how to control themselves into being okay.
I want to teach people how to come home to themselves.
How to breathe.
How to listen.
How to notice.
How to feel.
How to become available to their own lives.
And then—
practice.
Because knowing how to be present is different from being able to access presence when life gets hard.
That capacity is cultivated through experience.
The Practice of Peaceful Living
This is where The EXPERIENCE becomes more than an event, a session, or a place.
It becomes a practice ground.
A place to explore what presence feels like.
A place to notice where you leave yourself.
A place to practice staying.
A place to discover what happens when you breathe instead of react.
When you listen instead of assume.
When you feel instead of suppress.
When you become curious instead of certain.
When you allow yourself to experience life rather than constantly trying to manage it.
Because the goal isn’t to create a life where nothing uncomfortable happens.
The goal is to cultivate the capacity to remain connected to yourself when it does.
That is the foundation of peaceful living.
Where I Am Now
Right now, I am in a place where I am genuinely excited to be fully present with what I am doing.
With what I am creating.
With who I am creating with.
I don’t want to rush through this experience to get to whatever comes next.
I want to experience this.
To be here for it.
To listen to what is emerging.
To allow myself to be changed by the experience.
To explore what becomes possible when I stop trying to know everything before I begin.
This is presence.
Not perfection.
Not certainty.
Not control.
Availability.
Availability to the moment.
Availability to myself.
Availability to what is unfolding.
And perhaps that is the invitation for you, too.
You don’t have to know the language yet.
You don’t have to understand the environment.
You don’t have to have the next step figured out.
You don’t have to become someone else.
You only have to become willing to be here.
Take a breath.
Feel your body.
Notice what is happening.
Listen.
Stay.
And see what becomes available when you stop leaving yourself.
Because sometimes, when we lose ourselves in the unfamiliar, we discover the deepest parts of ourselves.
Not a new you.
You.
More present.
More aware.
More available.
More embodied.
And that is where the Path to P.E.A.C.E. begins.
Presence.
The Gateway.
The doorway back to yourself.
The practice that creates the foundation for peaceful living.
The beginning of embodied peace.
The beginning of Embodied Love.
And sometimes, the first step isn’t learning something new.
It’s simply becoming available enough to experience what is already here.
This is The EXPERIENCE.
Come experience yourself.
